I am quite interested in this discussion. After twisting the arm of my brother
down in Fla to get more active on the bands, he finally puts up a couple
antennas only to find 40m and 20m covered in S9 powerline noise. I have
advised him to do the normal sniffing around etc and to contact the local power
company which he says he has done.
But, in the meantime, has anyone here had any experience with devices like the
MFJ-1025? Are these things worth anything and do they work as advertised?

Subject: Re: [TowerTalk] You think you have line noise !
Thankfully, some utilities seem to be good to work with,
but there are too many that do little or nothing to correct
harmful interference. My situation (a small rural "co-op")
falls into the latter category, and I, too, and well into the
process of working with the ARRL (& FCC) to get it
remedied.
There isn't a lot of point having a fine tower, well-grounded,
full of effective antennas, if the only signals you hear
are S9 buzzing and anything strong enough to overcome
the interference.
http://www.powerlinenoise.com (my site) has info that
should be helpful to anyone with the same problem...
