Now is the time to service your tower winch! ( I had 2 failures. Caused by lack of lubrication.) Crank down the tower, Remove winch, take it apart Clean the jackscrew that operates the brake. (You will see square thread on the shaft and inside the hub.) Put a light film of boat wheel-bearing grease on the jack screw. Do not get grease on the brake plates. Reassemble.
