I bought a used one 12 years ago and had it up at the home qth here for 11
years, then moved it out to the NR4M contesting qth. Never had a problem
with it. While it was set for cw, running low power though a tuner, it still
played well on phone. I'd say performance is on par with any shorty 40.
I've had no problems with the lexan element-to-boom saddles here in VA. I've
had a KT34XA and the 2el 40 go through several ice storms with no issues and
the same with very high winds.
Would I buy another one? You bet. Very pleased with it.
