Hi Clay,

I use the rebar, welded together, in my SuperBertha bases as the ufer 
ground. then just below grade I bring six pigtails out of the cement.  The 
pigtails get attached to 2" copper strap that I run as radials away from the 
tower base. Six ground rods spaced 8ft apart for each radial.  That 
dissipates alot of the charge!!

I have a SPG plate at the tower base connected to every feedline ground. And 
lightning arrestors all other wires connected to the tower SPG.

I also have a separate SPG plate at the entrance to the house 300ft away.

Since 1999 I've had five direct hits that I know of and I've never lost a 
single component.

A fabricator could make you a simple rebar cage very cost effectively.
