Tony et al:

    White papers at http://www.iceradioproducts.com/33.htm and
http://www.iceradioproducts.com/33a.htm explain the innards of ICE, Polyphaser
and Delta lightning suppressors.

To answer your question, according to the ICE page, above, the shunt
elements on the antenna side of an ICE device are a coil and gas discharge
tube.

P.S. IMHO that was a pretty dumb design for the ICE cover.

Subject: [TowerTalk] ICE 196 question

Can someone tell me if the antenna side of the ICE 196 is a capacitor or
coil? When I took off the cover to change from 1/4" phono to F connectors,
the cover fell so I am not sure which way is the input.
Tnx

N2TK, Tony
