Although they may call this "aircraft cable" real aircraft cable is SS.
More properly this is "wire rope"
It's great stuff to work with being very flexible, but that flexibility
comes from lots of fine strands. I've never seen wire rope that didn't
rust. The galvanized just takes a bit longer to rust. It's not nearly
as strong for its size as EHS.
That said, I have used it on relatively small installations (not heavily
loaded and easy to change) I've also used it (appropriately sized) for
temporary guys. I would not use it on an installation like my 45G, or
anything long term or heavily loaded.
As to the insulator spacing, I don't know as I use Phyllistran and
haven't figured out the spacing in a long time.
