The last time I cranked it, I believe I counted 142 turns with the K1550 to
get my TX-455 up. The last 42 were a real struggle.

I haven't counted turns on the tilt fixture's winch, which, as you know, is
also a K1550. I have, however, successfully used a 1/2" slow speed rt
angle drill in place of the handle for a couple of those trips. I wouldn't
make a habit of it, as I'm not using a chuck adaptor, simply clamping the
drill chuck down on the flats of the winch shaft (where the handle fits up),
and, I don't want to damage the threads.

When attempting the same trick on the up/down K-1550, the drill chuck simply
spun on the shaft - too much torque was required, hence, the drill
chuck/shaft connection failed.

Hi Tom,

The squeals caused me to replace the K1550 with the K2550 as well -
detailed on my web site. We have a horse stable across the road, and
they would all run away when I tried to lower/raise it. I figured I'd
better do something before I was accused of stampeding the herd. Now
it's WAY easier to crank the winch, but takes 310 turns to raise/lower
it. That's why I'm looking at the winch adapter idea.
