Three choices, really:
1) Hire an engineer who knows this sort of thing, or can figure it out.
2) Make an educated guess and accept the risk. For the latter, I'd look
through the Rohn catalog and find something that's similar to what you
have (in terms of size of the structural members) and go from that.
3) Do the engineering calculations yourself (accepting the risk, if you
don't do this professionally, that it might be wrong).
Bear in mind that used tower sections may or may not be in good shape
internally. I've seen galvanized tubing that looked great from the
outside, but was corroded away internally.
As for the number of guy levels, that sort of depends on the
"slenderness" of the tower (i.e. how big in diameter it is vs how long
it is). I can't recall the exact number, but you want the
length/diameter to probably be <15-20 for each section. If you're doing
your own design, looking at the catalog is a good way to get a feel for
what the manufacturers think is reasonable.
