The cheap plastic ones are not only fine, but are far superior to the 
metal ones normally used for inside work as they rust quickly and 
badly.  They also form a better seal between the cabinet and gland than 
the metal ones. IOW you don't have to be quite a careful in removing 
burrs from holes.  I purchase the commercial ones sold by the local 
electrical distributor for about the same price as the ones at Lowe's 
and Home Depot.
