I find that my MFJ analyzer is in complete agreement with using my radio and 
it's built in SWR meter.
All of my antennas have random lengths of coax. I have never had to adjust 
coax lengths.
However, on low bands ( 40 thru 160 ) the antennas, being mechanically 
short, have narrow bandwidths. So, I use an MFJ-998 autotuner on 40 and 80 
to widen the bandwidth. On 160 I can get 50 KHz width with the tuner.
