Couldn't you just leave the old coax in place and put in a new run.

I agree with Gary on this. Some time ago, I had my coax cables installed on 
the inside of the tower. This is fine until you have to replace one of them. 
I found it a huge PITA to remove the run that needed replacing. Mine are now 
ALL on the outside!
