I like this idea, maybe not a big alum wheel but there are several easy to
get aluminum bicycle or motorcycle wheel to buy at the junk yard , those have
the holes
and maybe a little work and have the solution, cheaper to provide a solution
and
less work, BUT if you want something NICE, do not loose the time and order
the DXE Radial Plate, those are very nice looking.
I'm a practical guy with more interest to have something that will not rust
and less maintenance need during the time,
even a few pieces of angle will make it, those electrical joint bar will
rust
the bolts very soon if are not soaked in anti oxidant.

I use bent aluminum rims from auto body shops. I ask at local body shops if
they
have a bent al. rim they would care to donate to a good cause (Ham Radio) and
usually get them for free once I tell them of all the good things Ham Radio has
done.

I drill the perimeter and use stainless steel sheetmetal screws to attach
wires.
I've had mine in for over 21 years with no problems.
