Hi Gary,

I've never shunt-fed my tower here (it's a 48' self-supporter, with a Hygain
TH3 atop it), however, when I first installed it, the rotator needle would
"dance" in sync with my QRO 160-meter CW transmissions into an inverted "L"
50' away from the tower...

Now, this may (or may not) work for you, but what I did to stop the needle
jumping like this was to simply COIL the EXCESS rotator control cable just
ahead of the basement window that it was coming into.

If that doesn't do the trick for you, try installing 0.001-ufd. disc ceramic
bypass capacitors to ground, at those terminals in back of your control box
that carry the meter "signal" from the rotator itself.

Let us know how you might make out!

I recently built 2 verticals for 80 and 160 by shuntfeeding my tower. They
both seem to load nicely and are broadbanded, partly because of an
insufficient radial system.

When I transmit on either 160 or 80 the meter on my rotator controller
deflects.... this makes sense since I'm running rf right through the
rotator. Till now I've run only 100 watts thru the antennas but I'd like to
see if the antennas will handle a KW ok. I'm wondering if there's any chance
of damage to the rotator (Ham IV) if I do this. I'd guess not but it makes
me a little nervous.

Currently 10 watts deflects the meter about 10%. 100 watts deflects it about
25%.

Anyone have a thought on this?

Thanks,
