I use hose clamps on my homebrew antennas and they work well for most
installations. They hold the tubing securely and this method also makes the
elements easy to adjust. Once everything is adjusted, I also add a single
pop rivet to each joint for added security. For most locations this works
well. I have had trouble with hose clamps in Aruba. The corrosive
environment caused the aluminum tubing under the clamp to corrode and
expand, breaking some hose clamps after several years.
