Since the M2 has a RS232 control interface, what about some sort of
cheap box that reads a pot and spits out the appropriate control message.
There are such thing floating around out there on the web. Look at
robotics sites or mechanical gadget/animation people.
Kind of like the R/C servo testers that have a pot and a 555 to generate
the 0.5 to 1.5 ms pulses a servo wants to see.
