I sure am glad I single-bid my tower hole, cage, base and pour.  The 
original spec's on the tower base were  5.5' X 5.5 ' X 7.0'.  The 
contractor was one of these types who figured there wasn't any problem 
his big-a**ed back-hoe couldn't solve.  Unfortunately for him, one of 
its primary shortcomings was the inability to dig an accurate sized hole.

The final dimensions were 9.0' X 9.0' X 10.0' and it took two Redicrete 
trucks to bring in the requisite 16+ yards of concrete.  The contractor 
said he would have saved a lot of money if he had just hired two guys to 
hand-dig the hole and left his back-hoe at home.
