You will need to remove the top bracket/pulley assemblies and you can
pull everything right out the top. Depending on the tower, you may need
to "time" (align) the inner tubes as you pull them out so you miss the
rivets inside. This may not make sense now, but it will when you start
taking it apart!
I've taken a number of these apart. Its a perfect time to re-cable! I
even had one stripped to the raw metal and re-galvanized. It looked
brand new!

Subject: [TowerTalk] separating older tubular tower sections ?

For greater ease in moving an older tubular 2 section tower (probably
TriEx, but similar or identical to current US Tower MA-series), I
would like to separate the inner tube from the outer tube. However I
have been warned that there may well be a welded stop to prevent folks
from raising the upper section completely out of the inner with
unexpected consequences hi...
Has anyone tried completely separating tubular tower sections ?
Are any stops accessible ?
Any hints on re-cabling ?
Thanks & 73
