That is because the wrong kind was used.  Use the stuff made for 
aquariums and electronics.  The corrosive stuff smells like acid, while 
the good stuff just stinks.  It's non corrosive. As I said before, it's 
water proof, but not moisture proof, but normally works well on coax.
