Exactly...

This kind of thing can work, and work well, but you need someone who 
knows the local conditions and can run the numbers.  It's fairly complex 
(compared to a cookbook manufacturer suggested install) and the best 
approach  depends a lot on things like exactly what kind of post you 
have (square, round, etc.) , and what your soil is like, and what your 
construction techniques are.  And, of course, your budget.  An Engineer 
can help you trade off money spent on materials, services you contract 
out, and work you do yourself.   What might be standard practice for the 
power company planting poles (where labor costs are high) might not be 
the best approach for someone willing to do a lot of work themselves.  A 
local Engineer will also know what kind of materials are readily 
available in your area (e.g. round vs square tube, etc.)
