I just did a short experiment at 28MHz, concentrating on the mismatch issue:

AIM4170 Analyser (N-type) connected directly to precision load (N-type):
Z = 49.916 - j0.28
Rho = 0.00293
SWR = 1.006

Then I inserted the following back-to-back adaptors between analyser and
load:
N - BNC(F)
BNC(M) - UHF(F)
UHF(M) - UHF(M)
UHF(F) - UHF(F)
UHF(M) - UHF(M)
UHF(F) - N

And measured the following:
Z = 49.394 - j3.808
Rho = 0.0388
SWR = 1.081

By the way, you can't simply sum mismatch losses for each connector like
you can resistive losses - the interactions are much too complex for that.
