The first thing I would check is your connections, especially the connector
on the rotator. Water and dirt can get around the boot if you don't
waterproof it which can give erratic readings.

Hi all,

My Yaesu G-1000DXA rotator has started acting weird.

If I turn it clockwise, say to 180 degrees, the needle goes around to 180
degrees but when I take my finger off the button the needle jumps back to
150 degrees. This is fairly consistent, although occasionally it jumps back
less than 30 degrees and sometimes it doesn't jump at all.

When I turn it counterclockwise, the needle initially moves 10 or so
degrees clockwise, then starts around counterclockwise as it should. But
when I take my finger off the button, the needle continues on clockwise for
another 10 or 20 degrees.

Checking the antenna, it appears to be pointing in whatever direction the
needle ends up pointing after all its gyrations.

Anyone ever had a G-1000 behave like that? Any suggestions as to whether
the problem might be in the control box or the rotator? Any help on what to
do?

John
