Same here...I'm on the edges of the Kanas City metro area, and Kansas City
Power & Light have been EXCELLENT in communicating with me me and working to
find & resolve noise issues. Several have originated with the power company
(and they promptly fixed once they found it), and a few noise sources were
not theirs, but they pointed me in the right direction. They have been
professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. I have always treated them the
same way and I have been rewarded with a very quiet noise floor and new
friends who I can contact if I have future issues. Couldn't ask for a better
situation.

As to the very HV distribution lines, the closest to me are about a mile
away and they are extremely quiet. The LV stuff (in the 400-800 volt range)
are the ones that seem to have the most noise and radiate the most. After
the power company, there's a lot of crud (electric fences, sodium lighting,
TV's, switching power supplies, etc.) which can radiate for miles.

Much is written on the topic, from diagnosing to resolving, and is available
in print and online format. It requires some time, patience, research, and
diplomacy.

Good luck with QRN and 73

That's not the case here in the Tucson area. Both Power Companies have RFI
specialists who will come out and track down any noise, even if it's not
caused
by them.

A big improvement over what I experienced with Boston Edison !!
