My open wire line is made out of #4 stranded aluminum XHHW.  (Way
cheaper than copper).  It has now been out in the elements for
15 years and is still going strong.

 #4?  Is that a typo?  Seems a little bodacious for open wire line.  
Weight should be okay since it is aluminum.
 I realized a long time ago that if beams could use aluminum tubing, wire 
antennas could use aluminum wire.
