I have an older 80ft 25G tilt over, guyed with 4 guy wires at 30ft and 75ft,
with 7 antennas, 2- "Y" beams 2 and 6 m, 3- verticals and 2- squalos. 80 mph
gust's with downed trees all over, and the tower stood solid.

I made the calculations and, at least in theory, the "bending" momentum on
the tower gets lower if you put the guys a little lower. I have climbed it
the biggest swing/vibration was between the guy point and ground. It's an
aluminum tower so the springiness is a "little" more than the steel
counterpart.
You can check it at

As you can see, the guys are about 70 feet up. The tower is 85 feet.

Subject: [TowerTalk] Rohn25 Guying question
Since we’re having non engineer inputs...
I’d much rather have guys near the top and a little close in than have 30’
of
tower flapping in the breeze (and eating out the holes in the legs and
sawing at
the bolts).
I recently bought some used 25 with holes chewed out to at least twice
original
diameter...no idea how it was installed.
Besides, you wouldn’t be climbing above the guys, as long as you use
temporaries
on the way up from the others.
We need an engineer to chime in, but I’d bet that two sets would be
enough??
Does anyone know the square foot rating of a 10’ section?
