I thought it was pretty clear I was referring to simple moisture
corrosion. I guess not.
In any case, I have yet to hear of any instance where a copper ground
wire (like those that run from your utility panel down through the soil
to the Ufer ground in the footing of your house, or those that run from
your tower to the ground rods) had corroded to the point of being
ineffective.

Copper does corrode, it just doesn't normally react to water or air.
It will oxidize, it will react with sulfur compounds, and chlorides.
It does stand up better than iron in most conditions.
If your soil is acetic (marsh, bog, or peat) it will react on the
surface, sometimes forming a diode. My chemistry is 30 years behind
me so I don't remember if alkaline conditions bother it, but I don't
think so.
