From my own viewpoint, I like the disconnect everything (if possible),
but I'd add, I'd ground all disconnected leads.
I say that, but very seldom disconnect anything unless I have plenty of
warning. It's too difficult to get behind the desks to disconnect
everything in sufficient time. The storm would be here before I could
finish the first desk, let alone start on the second.
I do have lightening protection on most leads with coax shields grounded
(earthed) at the top and bottom of the tower and a network of 32, or 33
8' ground rods CadWelded to over 600 feet of bare #2. I put it in before
the price of copper went up.
