I used the larger Toroids when I set up my pickup for HF, it was about 3 or so years ago. I used them to wrap my large power cable coming from the battery. Did I need it. ??? I belt and suspenders my system. I was planning on using it for 80 meters and used #32 Toroids all over. For me it was worth doing it once.
