The Stauff clamps look like the best approach. I will also use an insert
(fiberglass rod, or a hardwood dowel that has been waterproofed) between
the element halves where they join the coil. This has been the weakest
link in the past.
The Mosley boom is thick enough that I don't think I will need inserts at the boom ends.
