Back in my Coast Guard days, we used a system developed by the Navy to seal
connectors exposed to the weather.
1. The connection was securely wrapped with self-vulcanizing tape. I
don't remember the Scotch number. This tape conformed to the connector
but was not UV resistant.
2. The connector was then wrapped with a layer of Scotch 33 vinyl tape
for UV protection.
3. The whole thing was then given an application of Scotchkote to seal
any pinholes and to prevent the tail of the tape unwinding.
This system worked very well but is some 30 years old now so there might
be more effective products on the market now.

say "UV-resistant." My intended use would be in addition to a first double wrap
with a product like Rescue Tape or 3M Mastic, and a UV protection second wrap of
Scotch 88, using the Liquid Tape for irregular areas and parts that are hard to
tape (for example, where a PL259 mates to an SO239). I would appreciate any
advice from those with experience.
