Groups.io has been wonderful. If you are not interested in a thread or topic 
(topics can have #tags) you can "mute" it. It saves having to read the follow 
on replies about a subject that either doesn't apply or is not interesting to 
you.

As a comment,  I am all for this "upgrade" yes sure I can see where 
abuse could happen, but i see the better and i think bigger picture of 
what this affords to us as readers and even casual readers. We cover so 
many topics and in a good way, we often drill down into the minutia of 
details, the ability to post pictures or drawings and offer insight, 
details and contrasting points of experience or views I think would be a 
greater value and outweigh the negative aspects of staying like we 
presently are.

Now all this said, would we then have to look at the various advertising 
content that so often seems to be included to help underwrite the 
increased capability or features. Therein might come the balance to not 
changing or upgrading.

Above all thank you for at least broaching the subject and having it..  
My 2 cents worth..
