Several years ago there was a series of detailed articles on this topic by 
Eric, K3NA ... in the NCJ, around 2003/2004-ish.

Tom, N4KG's rule was run them North to South, so that you don't find out
you are "looking" at one of the other towers when beaming into JA or EU. 

(North/South being headings from the mid-South are really not used that 
often was his logic ...)

Dig out the articles, it may surprise you as to what Eric found and help
to prevent all the time and expense not working as hoped there.
