Hi,
I purchased a used TX-489 and just put it up Friday morning before CQWW.
It came with a M2 2800 rotor with the 2800PX controller. The rotor wasn’t
working when the tower was taken down so the previous owner sent it to M2 and
they fixed the reed switch and shipped it to me.
The tower is around 350 feet from my shack so I am going to run conduit for
the hardline and rotor cable but I wanted to get on this weekend so I just
unrolled the cable and have it laying on the ground.
I have 500 feet of 18 gauge 10 conductor wire between the base of the tower
and the controller. I connected 4 for each DC lead and two for the sensors. A
chart I found on the web tells me 4 18 gauge conductors equal a 12 gauge wire.
My rotor turn turns the antennas but will only turn them about 200 degrees.
I tried doing the auto calibration but it continues to do the same thing.
Is there some limit programmed in the controller I need to clear? Is 18
gauge too small for 600 feet on the two sense wires?
I will be cutting the rotor line to length when I get the trench dug for the
conduit but the desert is hard here and I’m waiting for my excavator.
Thanks
