Given these 2 choices and everything else being equal, which would be the
strongest choice for a wooden post to attach a guy wire?

a) 2- 4x4 posts bolted together to make a single 4" x 8" post with the
eyebolt on a 4" face

b) a 6" x 6" post

Do you have a back stay to an anchor, or is the post taking the entire tension as a bending load. Without commenting on whether this is a good idea - a 4x8 beam will be stronger bending in the 8" direction than a 6x6 will be in the 6" direction. Assuming the bolting/gluing makes it a single 4x8 "beam".
