Ten years later than you, Joe, my novice/technician rig was a Globe Scout 680A
xmtr and a National NC-109 rcvr with an Ameco cconverter to shift 6m receive to
40m on the National receiver. Also, a Gonset Communicator II for 2m AM/MCW.  I
used to buy the xmt crystals for the station at an WWII electronics surplus
store on Arch Street in Philadelphia.
Good memory but ancient history at this point.

WAY BACK IN 1955 (NOVICE LICENSE - MY FIRST), MY 1ST TX WAS A WRL GLOBE SCOUT
65A; RX WAS EITHER A NATIONAL NC-88 OR HALLICRAFTERS SX-99.    IT'S JUST TOO
LONG AGO TO REMEMBER FOR SURE.....I LATER ON HAD A DRAKE 4B-LINE THAT I GOT
WHILE IN KH6 IN '70.- GREAT RIG, TOO.  LONG AFTER an SR-150, CE10A & 20A,
SW-400. & SX-101 (MK III); ONE OF MY EARLY RIGS TOO WAS AN HT-37; TERRIBLE TX -
AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED!!!  TODAY, I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY SDR (FLEX 6700)
