Thanks for all the great response from guys whose judgement and experience I trust.

BTW -- on the basis of two interactions with Joel at RF Connections, I don't share the positive opinion of him. The first was when I told him a year or so later that all of the DIN-connectors (for control circuitry, not hard line) were cheap junk, and that their dielectric melted when I tried to solder to it, and that the terminals did not accept solder. His only response was "hams are cheap."

The second was when I negotiated a very large group purchase of Amphenol connectors and adapters for our club. He didn't agree with the price I had been quoted (after I had the quote and placed the order). When I insisted that he honor the quote, he told me he would take the difference out of his salesman's salary. I made my living doing professional audio sales to studios and broadcasters for five years, and I NEVER had that happen to me.
