I have enjoyed VHF contesting for 10 years now and have rovered a few of
those times. I'm just adding my $.02 because I can see both sides of the
rover issue.

First, with today's gas prices being what they are, my hats off to
anyone that puts that much $$$$$ into their weekend.

I understand that each of us will do what makes it fun for us, be it a
60 QSO rate for all 33 hours or 4-6 friends get together and stopping
for a cookout dinner and have a great weekend.

I still think the captive rover is WRONG!!!! It may be allowed (in the
rules) to ONLY work the stations in your group/club, but to me if you're
only giving points to the QUEEN BEE that that's not in the SPIRIT of
contesting.

As long as it's a win at all costs, this will never get any better.
Maybe one year I will WIN an event but a "win just to win" takes ALL
the fun out of it.
