I guess it depends on your intentions.  If you really enjoy doing 
something, to the exclusion of worrying about the rules, then you'd keep 
doing it.

I got on from home in some contests recently just to be in the contest, 
with no thought of winning anything, just because they are fun.

It seems I've won at least my section in most of the Single-Op Portable 
operations I've done in contests for the last couple years.
