The Central States VHF Society Conference - 2009
starts tomorrow at the Elk Grove Village Holiday Inn,
in Elk Grove Village  Illinois.

The gathering will begin with a Pig Roast and Hospitality
Suites on Thursday night. Friday morning will start 
the two full days of technical activities with 
the measurements contests with the Antenna Range and 
the Amplifier Gain and Noise figure measurements 
throughout the morning. These measurement contests
 are followed by the  Friday Luncheon where 
Marshal Williams, K5QE, will present the 
"K5N - The 6-meter Grid Expedition to EL55 " 

Technical Presentations begin shortly after the
noon hour on Friday. Presenters for this year's 
Conference and their topics include;

  The Technical Portion of the Conference winds down at 3PM
Saturday with a special Presentation for the entire Family by 
Rod Blocksome, K0DAS     " The Search for Amelia Earhart"

    The Saturday Evening Banquet is the capstone of the 
offical Conference activities. ARRL President and Central 
States Society member,  Mr Joel Harrison, W5ZN, will be 
the Keynote speaker for the Saturday Evening Awards Banquet.

    The Central States VHF 2009 Conference is an excellent 
opportunity for Hams not yet involved in VHF/UHF 
Weak Signal activity to explore the possibilities that 
this exciting portion of the Amateur Radio hobby has
to offer. Saturday there is an introductory Weak-Signal all 
day presentation, " VHF-101 " where the techniques 
of operating and building an VHF/UHF station will be 
explained. Inlcuded in this program will be an antenna 
construction workshop where participants will construct 
working UHF yagi antennas. This all-day presentation 
and the afternoon antenna workshop are available for 
$10 admission at the door.

    Conference registration is also available at the Door for
a $50 fee registration plus the $5 Central States VHF 
Society membership. Limited last-minute seating is 
available  for the Thursday Evening Pig Roast, 
the Friday Luncheon  and the Saturday Awards Banquet.
