Mike adds,

All twitter does is allows you to raise your hand and say ...
Here am I ... please call me. You still have to make the q through
traditional methods.
But this is where I see the advantage to a twitter driven "spot" If
after an hour the q's have dropped or you haven't made any ... you
repost again.

And its not totally about contesting. Lets say Marshall goes into the
shack on Wednesday morning and tweets
EM31 K5QE QRV 50.125

Lets say I'm not doing anything and really don't need EM31, I may go
in and jump on the radio and see if I can work him, just for the fun
of it. While I'm doing so I might actually grab another grid I need
from someone else who also just happens to get on the air to say hi as
well. Now I don't know of any of the spotting web-sites that can send
text messages or emails to your phone when a particular (or any)
station comes on the air.
