Well, so much for believing the experts. I went QRT at about 0130 UT on
222, but managed to get up at 0600 UT to check the magnetic indices.
They all seemed OK but with some minor energy on display in Northern
Europe & Alaska. Things in the mid latitudes were very quiet. I went
back to bed at about 0700 UT and saw this AM that nothing much happened
after that! Another false alarm. K index is at 2 now and shows no sign
of getting crazy. I am still hopeful that we can catch a break and get a
real aurora. My 222 antenna was put up around 2007, and I am not sure
but think it has never been used in an aurora. Some of that is my fault,
with a not too convenient hilltop shack, but auroras have been scarce
for years.
