Hi Doug

I used a wav edit program to cut the beginning and ending dead air from the
wav and it seems to work pretty good.

I'm made some progress in learning to use Writelog and also setting up the
soundblaster for SSB.
Scott's FB webpage states that he has not had much luck with using the %C to
send calls. I'm having pretty good luck, but it's taken me two or three
tries at each letter and numeral.
I access the Sound Recorder on Windows 98 by going to
Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Sound Recorder.
Using either the built in laptop mic or an outboard mic I must click the
circle red to record, immediately say the letter or numeral, and
immediately
click the black square to stop recording. Every multisecond that the sound
recorder is recording before and after you say the letter/numeral adds those
multiseconds to the spacing between characters in the call. With my 233 MHz
computer, I can get the letter spacing fairly close, not as close as when I
normally say a call, but close enough for contesting, about 3 1/2 seconds
for
most calls. I think by redoing the "slow" characters I could take another
half second off. Perhaps a faster computer would also reduce the spacing
time?
What has been your experience?
