Not sure this is related to your problem, but last year the Writelog FT-920
code wasn't working properly (or I was having a problem with a particular
version). I don't think I got the "no rig" message. It just didn't control
all of the functions of the radio. I had to use the FT-890 setting (I
think) to get it to at least read the frequency. I have had my 920 in the
box since field day last year, so I am not sure Ron has fixed this yet (or
if he is aware of the problem).

Looks like your setup is okay (as long as you are using a straight cable).
Try setting it to one of the other Yaesu setting to see if it will at least
recognize that a radio is there. You might want to also try downloading
another program that has CAT control (like DX4WIN) to see if it works there.

Good Luck.

Jim K7MK.

I sure could use a litttle help.

My new Yaesu FT-920 arrived today and I am trying to configure Writelog to
work with this radio.

I open Wiitelog and go to Setup and then to Ports.

I have the radio connected to com 2.

Rig checked
 Selected FT-920 from the list
 Baud rate set to Auto
  Poll checked
Com PTT set to NO.
CW turned off
DVK type set to none
rotor control set to none in both positions.

Click OK

Radio button says "No Rig!"

My troubleshooting:

In Windows 98SE I have comm 2 set to 9600, 8, N, 1

The Writelog.ini file shows

Com 2 9600, 8, N, 1, p

I reset that line to:

Com 2 4800, 8, N, 2, This is the rate the Yaesu Manual said to set the
com port to.

saved the file then restarted Writelog.

The radio button in the logging window still says "NoRIG!"

I know the com port and the cable are good because I can run my Rig Blaster
from this port with no problems.

I am wondering what I am missing here.

Any help?

Thanks

Thom WI8W
