[WriteLog] Cut figures not possible in WL?

Actually, Writelog will translate a cut number
when you enter them. If someone sends you a AA3N
for the serial number, enter that and Writelog
will translate this to 1139. This happens as long
as you are in the serial number field in the entry
window. No need to mentally translate. Its fun
to watch.

TRLog & Writelog both do this. NA & CT do not.

Actually, I was pleased to hear very little use of
cut numbers in the WPX this past weekend. That
was the main readon I had avoided this contest in
the past.

I agree too. Whenever I receive cut numbers, the
brain has to
manually translate "let's see, didah = A, A = 1"
rather than the
automatic didadadadah, finger hits the 1 key.
This delays my
confirmation response, making up for any time
saved by a
transmission a few msec. shorter.
But don't listen to me (or the others). As those
who know me will
tell you, my CW abilities aren't what they used to
be - I can only
copy about 80 WPM now...
