Hi Larry,
On Windows 98, the version I have on my PC, I get this warning message
before opening folders in the Windows subdirectory, so I show it on my web
page. Not all operating systems or versions have the same warning message.
Given your message below, I'd start from within the WriteLog Program itself
to set up ports and have your radio talk with the program. If I were you,
I'd go to 'Setting up You' And then 'Initial Program Setup.' There is a
section there on setting up ports and your sound card.
While some will disagree with me (maybe most!), my biggest concern for the
WriteLog.ini setup when you initially set up the program is if you have
consistently used F1 as the CQ message in the past.. It's important if
you've pressed F1 for the CQ message thousands and thousands of times to not
come to WriteLog and get the Windows default F1 Help screen, so you make
WriteLog 'CT Compatible' in the WriteLog.ini file.
Hope this helps.

Subject: [WriteLog] Newbie
Wow, I am snowed under trying to set up Writelog.
Maybe it is too late at night or I'm too used to using TR for
such a long time. I think I'm confused by seemingly conflicting
instructions, but basically I'm trying to set up ports and get my
radio to talk to the progrom.
Hope any of you can help and point me in the right direction.
I assume I should somehow edit Writelog.ini and the directions
in the K9jy web page are as follows:
(snip)
Open the WriteLog.ini file by opening up Windows Explorer, clicking on the
Windows folder, then clicking on the 'Show Files' dialog associated with the
'warning' message, then going to the bottom of the file list and opening the
WriteLog.ini file.
'show files'? warning message? Where?
BTW, I have an Icom-761 with the CT-17 interface.
