Adding parallel ports has never been a problem. Getting them to work with
the IRQ's available has been the problem for me, although most parallel
ports can be configured to not use the IRQ that is assigned to them. I have
used the old add in i/o boards. I have never had one to not work with
DX4WIN. Writelog on the other hand does not have the drivers for Windows
2000 to use the parallel port, which happens to be my method of keying cw,
so now I have got to come up with another way.
First see if you can use each of your new ports to print. If they won't
print, they won't work with DX4WIN or any other program. The mode you have
set up on the parallel port may make a difference in the interface is
handled different on two way modes vs the one way mode that the old printer
port requires (no IRQ is used this way), although the PCI card will probably
require one to be assigned to it.
Then check in control panel/system/hardware/device manager for the resources
(IRQ) that are assigned to each parallel port and be triply sure they are
not also used by some other device that you are not aware of (such as a
modem)or one of the pci steering interrupts.

Hello to all.
I am trying to add two additional parallel ports to my computer. These ports
will be used with Writelog and Win4DX in a PII 400 MHz computer running
Windows 98.
The addition of serial ports has been successful for a total of six ports
with a plug and play unit PCI-400HS-9 from Byte Runner. Trying to add
parallel ports so far has not. The plug and play unit I have seems to
install with the supplied drivers but when I try accessing them in both
Win4DX and Writelog they are not recognized. The unit was also obtained from
Bite Runner model PCI-1284-P2. Bite Runner has been working unsuccessfully
with me to try to get the unit to work. I have there authorization number to
return the unit.
Has anyone been able to install additional parallel ports that work
correctly with Win4DX and Writelog. If so please send me the information and
where to obtain the unit so that I may do so.
