I have never had any problems keying CW from a serial COM
port using WriteLog. I use it for mainly for everyday CW work and
have only used it in a handful of contests, but no problems incurred
so far.

It is very easy to do. There is a simple diagram showing how
to do CW, RTTY FSK and/or PTT from the same COM port
on my personal website at http://www.aa5au.com/rttyinterface.html.

If you have computer control of your radio, you don't need
PTT.

One thing to note and I don't know if this affected LPT keying,
but you may have to extend the delay between PTT and CW keying.
The first dit or dah was not sent before I extended the delay
from 10 ms to 50 ms. This is done from the Ports setup screen.
I probably could have gotten away with something lower than 50 ms
but I just tried 50 ms and it worked so stayed with it.
