Hi Pat,

What you've described so far looks like WL is doing what it is supposed to
do. The volume control moving totally over to the one side, for example, is
exactly what is supposed to happen when you have 'This radio is left'
checked under radio. Change it to 'right' and watch it move to the right.

WriteLog is set up so that you can use two radios off of one computer.
WriteLog expects the setup in WriteLog Sound Mixer Control to match what you
have going on in the installation. As far as muting the .wav files, that
usually points to the 'Receive Selection' portion of WriteLog Sound Mixer
Control being incorrect. WriteLog is watching when you are transmitting and
receiving and mutes appropriately. If you open up the WriteLog Sound Mixer
Control and then make the changes in the Radio (right or left), send .wav
files via a function key, or send files with PTT and a microphone, you'll
see the checkmarks move in the Window.

After a contest I have to remember to re-balance the controls. For a while,
I couldn't figure out why sound was only coming out of one of my
speakers...!

Check out my web site under Reference and Sound Cards for examples of what
I've said here. See if this helps.

I've seen the same behavior of muting wav on my installation (last
several versions). In addition, when launching I also see the Master
Volume balance control moved to one side resulting in the sound out of
only one of my speakers.

I took some screenshots and description and gave it to Ron at the
Flagstaff hamfest back in July, but never heard back from either Ron or
Wayne...

I'm running v10.34 under W98. I did notice that you have a 'built in
sound board' as do I... Ron seemed to think that there have been some
reportedly flakey things happen with systems using the SB PCI128 onboard
sound. Don't know if that's the problem or not, but I've just been
living with it by unchecking the wave mute and adjusting the balance.
Irritating but not fatal... Sure wish a fix was available though!
