Err, I've made thousands of RTTY contacts using the mike input on
various laptops. You just have to get the levels right.
OTOH, you might consider the MixW RigExpert, which puts everything on
a USB port, and works well.

Hi guys,
did anybody have any success with an external USB Soundcard? My notebook only
has a Mic-In and no line-in, so it is basically useless for decoding RTTY and
other stuff.
I have searched the archives but only found (negative) experiences with the
Soundblaster Extigy, but that was more than 2 years ago. Now USB 2.0 is
around
and there are quite a few different USB sound devices, also used by
professional musicians. I am sure the newer devices are better, but can they
be used with Writelog.
I want to use the sound card for RTTY with the MMTTY plugin and Voice-Keying
with WL as well as for Software-decoding of Digital Radio Mondiale.
Let me know your results, positive or negative, please.
Thank you very much for your help.
Regards,
Carsten
