Since the only cable you have goes from your serial port (COMM port) on your
computer to your "cat" input on the rig, I have to conclude that you are
keying the rig using the PTT line on the "cat" interface. If so, you need to
check whether it will key when just the PTT line is pulled to ground. On my
FT-1000D, in order for PTT to "key" the rig, I must also have the "bk in"
line switched in. Even with "vox" invoked, but the "bk in" not asserted, the
rig will go to "transmit" mode with PTT pulled down but without output. If
the 920 has a "bk in" control, try setting it and see what happens.
