Is anyone out there using an IBM T42 with Win XP Pro and Writelog? On
mine, WL Setup | Ports grays out all the buttons corresponding to LPT
ports. The result is no rig selection signal via the parallel port, a
necessity for SO2R operation. I tried using userport which had worked
fine on a T20 with Win 2K Pro but it appears to do nothing on this
system. The LPT1 addresses in writelog.ini and Device Manager agree. DM
lists only one address range for LPT1 and no DMA while at least one XP
user has showed me a DM report of two address ranges and a DMA 3
indication for LPT1. I can't make my DM say that. I've read all the
threads I can find and I see that some people are using userport with XP
but none that 'fess up to this particular computer. I'm suspicious of
alleged "self-repair" daemons that may be running courtesy of IBM or
perhaps in XP but I don't know how to find them. Anyone knowledgeable,
please advise. I'm dead in the water until I figure out a way to
convince WL to use my LPT port or else find another way to get a rig
select signal into my DX Doubler.
